Peculiar Pair (NA)
Peculiar Pair by Sandra Galda (NA)
4"x6" oil on canvas board
I am still working with the colorful votive candle holders we bought at a garage sale this past Saturday! Will try to shift subjects tomorrow. If interested in purchasing contact my email address sgalda@aol.com Thanks for looking, tell me what you think-leave a comment! Paintings by Sandra Galda are copyright.
Went to the Boston Museum of Art with our daughter and her best friend yesterday. We all sat and sketched, walked and looked. We have done this before together, all three of us love to draw and wander around all that terrific art.
See my happy smile above? That's me in my fav place, the art museum! Below is one of my fast little sketches I love to make while there.

Apple Approbation (sold)
Apple Approbation by Sandra Galda
4"x6" oil on canvas
These apples seem to be sizing one another up. I hope they meet with mutal approval? I have been keeping so many of these granny smith apples around for my daughter who loves to eat them and for me who often paints them, that I had to make apple crisp last night with some before they spoil. Pattern of Healthy Snacking by Sandra Galda (NA)
6"x8" oil on gessoboard
This was an exercise of editing and simplification. The patterned cloth is sort of new for me in a small painting. It's from an upholstery sample book. I loosed all the fabric swatches, put them on a ring and hung them in a closet near my easel. Still Life with Sugarbowl (NA)
8"x10" oil on gesso board
This is an 8"x10" painting, a bit larger than I usually post. Working larger sure takes a bit longer. I do work extremely large sometimes such as when doing theater sets on a stage or when painting very large canvases. I actaully have an unfinished 5 foot x 6 foot landscape canvas on my familyroom wall waiting for me to finish, but I think it will be a while before I tackle that. I did start and finish today's post in one day working on and off in between interruptions. If interested in purchasing contact my email address sgalda@aol.com Thanks for looking, tell me what you think-leave a comment! Below is a shot of the large oil canvas in process that I mentioned. Last time I took it off the wall and worked on it was last summer for a week. I hope to work more on it this year. As you can see it fills a room!

Penned in Pear by Sandra Galda (NA)
4"x6" oil on canvas board
The solitary painting process provides the time for the food items to reveal their obscured relationships. After staring and painting this set up for an hour, I observed what seems to be a huge drama occurring with the appearance of the far right tomato...am I the only one who imagines this sort of interactions? I am just returned from a nice Easter visit to family, so I am posting a small painting completed last year. Memoir
Memoir by Sandra Galda
4"x4" oil on gesso board
Seemed a fitting theme this Easter week! After looking at this all day, I think I will adust the top profile edge of the bread and the top right side of the glass....I painted this in one half hour, maybe less. In the process my proportions are just a bit ...off. I may "fix" this little work and repost it.... A Passion for Painting Award
Here are a couple of sketches from my small purse sketchbook. I hope to paint the cup and bread sketch idea soon. It is ironic on the day I am probably only going to be able to post sketches, I am going to write about a painting award....
My blog was awarded a "Passion for Painting Award" by a wonderful daily painter, Karen Bruson . She is very talented and has a terrific ability to detect even the most elusive color hiding in a subject. Thank you Karen! She is one of several regularly art blogging artists that I met at a recent Carol Marine workshop, with whom I maintain contact with and share mutual encouragement; they are: Annelein, Katie Wilson-Bernatas Tim Cavanaugh, Rob Hazzard and Marina Petro (click on their names to check out all their art blogs). Kudos to these supportive, encouraging and very talented art friends! Kim Ratigan originated the award. It requires the recipient to list 7 things we love and the pass the award along to another 7 passionate painters.
My list of Top 7 things I love (mostly art-related, lest I list 70....)
1. The greatest designer of all, God!
2. License from my supportive husband and kids to paint.
3. My pets, especially my dogs. They are my constant friends while I work.
4. The study of endlessly abundant fine art information in books, workshops, and on the internet. 5. The art of John Singer Sargent
6. Living near the art Museums of Boston, Ma., especially the Boston Museum of Fine Art. I do not tire of wandering around and admiring the tremendous collection of art in this city. Art Museums are my thing. I visit art museums in any city we travel to.....
7. Art Supplies.............lots of them.
My list of Passionate Painters. There are so many who inspire me. My list is composed of the art bloggers who initially had a tremendous influence in my daily painting. (Actually, they continue to influence me, daily)
1. Aaron Lifferth's
2. Carol Marine's Painting a Day
3. Jeff Hayes
4. Michael Naples
5. qiang-huang, a daily painter

Friday's Foible (NA)
I keep a small sketchbook and some sketching pencils in my purse for attempts at regular sketching--at least once a week. These boots will be today's post unless I finish a small painting later tonight. Below is a better photo of yesterday's small painting. I am amazed at what a difference lighting can make. I took this photo when I got home from an all day outing today, but by the time I got home and took the picture, it was thundering and raining. Yup, you guessed another bad lighting moment--but better than late last night... I took it anyway, came in the house and promptly dropped the painting. Yup, jelly side down....alas it is just fine because the paint was well set and almost dry. but still.......what a foible.....
