Update: more work in process: Beatrix's Roses

"Brown Paper Study" by Sandra Galda

Thought you may like to see additional work I am doing now.  The brown paper charcoal drawing is part of the studio process which helps an artist determine if he has an acceptable value pattern and composition.  I have a long way yet to go on the painting, this type of work is very representational and each area must be as true to color value and form so it is a long process. There is much to be learned through this kind of training. I am thankful for the the wise guidance of my art teacher!

If interested in purchasing this, or any of my available art on this blog, contact my email address sgalda@aol.com or use the PayPal button if included in the post. Small works are signed in full on the back of the painting. All works priced and sold without framing unless by special arrangement with buyer. The past month or so has been very busy and I have not been producing small daily works to post.  Instead, here is some of the artwork I have been doing. I am working on a still life following and learning the process taught at Ingbretson studios, it takes much longer. I painted the small landscape sketch (riverscape?) a couple weeks ago. It was an outdoor painting day at the studio, many of the students participated and we had beautiful weather. I took a good picture of it with my camera, maybe I will finish it someday.

update :Brown Paper Prep Drawing and experimental blog....

Brown Paper Prep Drawing by Sandra Galda
charcoal and chalk on brown wrapping paper

This is an update on the brown paper sketch prep drawing for a still life in the studio.  This is the first time I am doing this exercise which aids an artist in exploring the value systems, edge characteristics, and composition, in a still life set up in preparation for a painting.  I am putting an additional special interest blog that is in its trial stage-Not sure if it will fly for long but here it is!  http://thebostonschoolofpainting.blogspot.com/
