The past month or so has been very busy and I have not been producing small daily works to post.  Instead, here is some of the artwork I have been doing. I am working on a still life following and learning the process taught at Ingbretson studios, it takes much longer. I painted the small landscape sketch (riverscape?) a couple weeks ago. It was an outdoor painting day at the studio, many of the students participated and we had beautiful weather. I took a good picture of it with my camera, maybe I will finish it someday.

This is an update on the brown paper sketch prep drawing for a still life in the studio.  This is the first time I am doing this exercise which aids an artist in exploring the value systems, edge characteristics, and composition, in a still life set up in preparation for a painting.  I am putting an additional special interest blog that is in its trial stage-Not sure if it will fly for long but here it is!  http://thebostonschoolofpainting.blogspot.com/

Both of these images require extended time to complete, a different experience all together from the daily small paintings I usually post.  I love both approaches! I am in the really fun finishing stages in the oil painting and the cast drawing above ! New Year

I will be posting some small paintings soon. Here is my studio set up at Paul Ingbretson studios, where for a flexible bunch of hours each week, I am in his studio school under his training. I will write more about this as time goes on. I am only at the very beginning stages of his program of traditional European atelier/ Boston style academic fine art study. I am thrilled!
