Sketch of St. John the Baptist by Sandra Galda (NA)
A quick, loosely sketched drawing of John the Baptist after an old Renaissance painting. Many celebrate Ash Wednesday today, and this seems an appropriate subject to post! Posting a sketch is a departure from the aim of this blog, but drawing can sharpen the talent, albeit in a different way, than the small daily paintings. It is best can post when overly busy with family!

Roll and Coffee by Sandra Galda
5"x7" oil on masonite
A yummy snack! 5"x7" oil on gessoboard. Shooting for an abbreviated realism that gives the viewer just a little more brushwork to enjoy than smooth ultra-realism. Realism is for cameras.....

Yes, with six more weeks of winter predicted by the iconic groundhog, I suppose I should have painted steaming hot coffee in that cup, thanks brother!
