Red Market Pears (sold)
by Sandra Galda
30"x36"
(sold)
Today's post is a painting I created while I was looking at a beautiful greeting card I own. My own version of Elizabeth Brandon's beautifully painted pears was copied in oil by me, without any artificial reproducing means-I just set the card up, looked at it, and painted it, as if it was a real still life set up. I used this exercise to learn to refine my work. Today another wonderful artist I love to follow, just happened to include such an exercise in his daily post, his name is Qiang Huang, Check out his blog (click on his name), he explains the artsit custom of painting after a famous artist for personal training. Thanks for looking, tell me what you think-leave a comment! Paintings by Sandra Galda are copyright.

Bridesmaid Bouquet

Bridesmaid Bouquet by Sandra Galda
6"x6" oil on Raymar
150.00
I am back from a very busy long weekend. One of our three children, a son, is now married! This painting records my daughter's bridesmaid bouquet, she enjoyed standing up for the wedding as a bridesmaid! I tried not to paint too much detail. The flowers included Hydrangea, a really fussy flower to paint because of all the smaller flowers within one flower. If interested in purchasing any of my available paintings on this blog, contact my email address sgalda@aol.com Thanks for looking, tell me what you think-leave a comment! Paintings by Sandra Galda are copyright.
Above is a picture of my son and his wife and my husband who performed the wedding at their request! My hubby is also an ordained minister---he was a full time missionary very early in our marriage. Although for years and years he has derived his income from a secular career, he occasionally performs various church duties. He likes being bi-vocational. What an amazing wedding. Our daughter was a bridesmaid and our other son was the best man. --And I just enjoyed :)

These flowers are some of our favorites this year, African Daisies and what I think is Bachelor's buttons. I could be wrong on the names, but I do like them! Spring Rosebud
4"x4" oil on gesso board
Did this small exercise while cooking a shrimp dinner. I do believe that picking up that paintbrush each day will yield a development in my art, even if the day is so busy I do not get to work on my bigger paintings, but only complete one small work. Today was one such day- I finally drove down and brought my thesis to the bindery --one copy for the library and one for my shelf!
