Red Market Pears (sold)

Red Market Pears (after greeting card art by Elizabeth Brandon, 2004)
by Sandra Galda
30"x36"
(sold)

Today's post is a painting I created while I was looking at a beautiful greeting card I own. My own version of Elizabeth Brandon's beautifully painted pears was copied in oil by me, without any artificial reproducing means-I just set the card up, looked at it, and painted it, as if it was a real still life set up. I used this exercise to learn to refine my work. Today another wonderful artist I love to follow, just happened to include such an exercise in his daily post, his name is Qiang Huang, Check out his blog (click on his name), he explains the artsit custom of painting after a famous artist for personal training. Thanks for looking, tell me what you think-leave a comment! Paintings by Sandra Galda are copyright.

I think it is a wonderful, vibrant painting.

This is great, a really well done rendering. Have you thought about now getting the same # of pears, setting up the same still life and trying it "in person"? It would be a fun challenge for you.

Sandra!

I love painting pears myself so this one caught my eye!

Wonderful rendering! The reds look amazing here.

I'm really curious to see what the original greeting card looked like now!

Very nice study with a nice sense of light and depth.

Pears! You know I love them. I've been thinking of doing some training by copying some of my favorites too, I'll have to get on it.
